What We Did
Description
The Matrimandir in Auroville, often called the Soul of the City, is a globally recognized spiritual landmark in India. This golden sphere, surrounded by twelve gardens, symbolizes peace, reflection, and integral yoga. Conceived by Mirra Alfassa (The Mother) and designed with architect Roger Anger, it has become one of the most iconic examples of spiritual architecture in India.
Our challenge was to create a digital identity and website design that mirrors the serenity, symbolism, and architectural brilliance of the Matrimandir—while making it accessible to visitors, researchers, and the worldwide community interested in Auroville and Indian heritage sites.
Process & Key Points:
- Brand Identity & Logo Design:Developed a logo and visual identity inspired by the Matrimandir’s golden sphere, reflecting its role as a center of consciousness and meditation.
- Website Design & Architecture:Designed a clean, user-friendly website that provides essential details—Matrimandir history, architecture, visiting guidelines, and gallery—with smooth navigation.
- Information Architecture:Structured complex spiritual, architectural, and cultural content into intuitive sections—while also adding a dedicated News section and Projects section—to make it easier for diverse audiences to explore and stay updated.
- Custom Illustrations:Created illustrations inspired by the Matrimandir gardens and spherical design, adding storytelling depth to the digital experience.
- Website Optimization:Enhanced site performance through image optimization and efficient coding, ensuring a fast and seamless experience even with rich visual content.
